GLASGOW AIRPORT SKYHUB

A new translucent wall designed to admit daylight with integrated blast resistance.

PURPOSE OF THE WORK:

The new wall needed to admit daylight to reduce reliance on artificial lighting, as well as being able to withstand any explosion without the roofs or floors collapsing.

WHAT WE DELIVERED:

Structura provided a complete Kalwall elevation to the new security area as part of an extension to Glasgow airport. By choosing Kalwall, the designers were able to bring natural daylight to an area that would normally be artificially lit.

BENEFITS:

The translucent wall provides high levels of insulation and low solar gain, as well as using natural daylight to reduce the reliance on artificial lighting. The new wall is able to withhold explosions, keeping the building in tact in the event of a security incident.
